actually, a lot of bhangra uses other types of beats too (i.e. =
breakbeats).
the generally acknowledged master of this genre is bally sagoo. i hear =
his
"magic touch" is really good (remixes of nusrat fateh ali khan). you =
might
want to look for irs record's "what is bhangra" for a starter =
compilation.
also check out mango's "anokha--sound of the asian underground". while =

wouldn't feel comfortable calling it "bhangra" (it's mostly jungle w/an =

indian or pakistani vibe), you should find it interesting. talvin =
singh is
prominently featured--somebody help me w/where we should know talvin =
from!

Talvin Singh hosts Anokha at The Blue Note every Monday which seems to =
be getting alot of attention by the trendy music press in London. I =
haven't been there yet but I intend to check it out and will post a =
review to the list.
