Salut (writing now from Roma!! :),

Daft Punk's first LP, "homework", was actually quite expected in
France. Some single appearances (like their first big hit, "Da Funk",
on Soma, or more recently "Music" on source lab 2, which is actually
quoted in homework) made up quite a big raving about them... they are
actually two young (around 20, I guess) from Paris, mixing as Erik B.
said lots of different sounds, and keeping the so-called "french
sound" fresh!

If you dig this LP, you should check out what comes out on Thomas
Bangalter (half of Daft Punk)'s label, called Roule. There must be by
now three records on that label (which planned to be associated with
Dj Gilb-R's Versatile Records), and at least one of them, called
"traxx on the rocks" is definately good, IMHO.

Actually it was funny because the hype was so big around daft punk as
I left France that even rock-magazines critics tried to listen to it
and give an advice, and some of them really could'nt as this was their
first non-pure-rock experience (keeping saying things like "this music
is very repetitive", or "anybody with a sampler can do that" and so
on).

(hurts to ask this question): does anybody know if Solaar's new LP is
out in France by now? Can't wait for the La Funk Mob work on it
(wonder how they managed to mix the sound of their latest works with
Solaar's rimes).

Daniel

PS: I have difficulties in reaching my account in France right
now. However, if someone is interested, I should be able to provide
Roule's Fax #, as well as some (perhaps not anymore valid:) www links
for daft punk.
