I don't have the album but I've heard many tracks from it. I wouldn't
compare Morcheeba to Portishead at all. You could probably draw more
comparisons to Massive Attack, but they have more of a dub influence.
Aside from being trip hop with a female vocal (come to think of it, most
vocal trip hop is sung by a female singer), the similarities end there.
Morcheeba has more guitar in the arrangement, and use synth pads
extensively. Portishead's arrangements are more sparse. Not to say which of
the two is better, I seem to enjoy both, but they each have their own sound.
