Hey Kids,... I'm baaaack

Last week I spun in a coffee shop with the Texas Southern University
Jazz Ensemble. Got a really nice cd from the director. TSU is the alma
mater of The Crusaders, The Laws (Ronnie, Hubert, et al) family, and may
other quality jazz musicians. (Houston subsribers: we jam again at
Border's Coffee shop, Westheimer & Gessner on 3/27/97, 6:00 pm)

In the mix this week: "Use The Force" (Jamiroquai) vs "Superstrut"
(Deodato) and a brand new track from Hollywood Records: Peter Buffet's
"Recombination" with remixes from Smash, mixed against the funky bass
line of A. Van Helden's rmx of "Runaway" (Nuyorican Soul). "Use" and
"Super" are 2 decades removed from each other ('96 vs '73) yet very,
very similar!?

BTW I went shopping in Austin and San Antonio for some rare grooves and
came up with Masekela's "Introducing Hedzoleh Soundz" ('73), Grover
Washington's "Reed Seed" ('78), Deodato's "2" and "Wirlwind", and many
others, including copies of Bill Cosby's old comedy albums.... most of
the stuff was $0.99! (Masekela was a whopping $1.95, Bill's were free w
purchase)

This week because Dj Theory forwarded his playlist and "The Hip Hop Pick
of the Week" early, we can give you a complete schedule of the show.
