unfortunately, in general radio is commercial. and trends are where the
major record company's can make money on "trend waves"...

well this varies.. the uk is a lot smaller than the states for one and its
"dance/techno" scene is far more developed than the midwest. but if you
look at sf, jamiroquai is widely known and his upcoming show has sold out..

imho, big radio dj's are in a completely different league. a good dj
friend of mine and i were conversing on this point a while back... to find
a good dj who's wicked on the vinyl and has a groovy library you've got to
look in the deep dark corners of clubs and university radio stations.. you
find people who know how to work multiple cd players in big radio..

couldn't agree more. the uni radio scene puts out a lot of good sounds but
it still really varies from campus to campus..

its nice to hear shit on the radio and whatnot, honestly i never have the
time to "schedule" in a radio show that might have something i want to
hear.. lists and the right local record store (or online merchant) have
been a lot more use to me..
