Dear list:
I was taking notice to the Dj cam album from 94; I was
playing it again hoping that with new experiences it would sound
better to me now than then. I 've learned that if you are looking for
horns you tend not to notice strings and vice versa. Sometimes a
cut you dissed for being too slow sounds better when you are in the mood
for that on another day (phase,state-of mind). well dj cam's
album reminded me that all he did was take loops made popular in
mainstream hip hop and putm them out sans vox. sure he added some
stuff some time but the central riff is played. i notice
this same thing with headz2. I would elaborate but i have to document
the examples better( 3 on disc one alone). If all you're
going to do is take the xylophone sample from Pete rocks remix of the
prophet put a different drumm loop on it(maybe !) and an Adam
Clayton Powell sample. Thats not creative. Whats worse is when Mowax
signs these guys and rewards it.
