Just so happens I'm a Blaxploitaion archivist. Some of the basics to look out
for are a little obvious: Isaac Hayes (Shaft, Truck Turner, Two Tough Guys, et
al), Curtis Mayfield (Superflt, Let's Do It Again, et al), Lalo Schifrin (Dirty
Harry, et al), JJ Johnson (Across 110th Street, Willie Dynamite, et al.),
Quincy Jones ($, et al.), Roy Ayers (Coffy). If I remember correctly, Dolemite
(Rudy Ray Moore) did his own soundtracks, so to speak, with a backup band. If
you need any additional or detailed info, e-mail me directly

One other thing i picked up was the Sweet Sweetback's Badass Song
soundtrack. I'm sure a lot of talk on the list has floated by me as far
as this stuff is concerned and i might not have recognized the names. I
definitely want to get a lot of the kind of soul/funk one hears when
watching a Dolemite movie. Disco Godfather was the joint! I guess i'm
talking early 70's. Anyway if anyone could toss out some names...

Thanks...
Argo
