Hi Jamiroquai fans,

When I first heard the album "Emergency on Planet Earth" by JAMIROQUAI I
was very attracted to the unique, but familiar rhythm & beat...almost
like a native american had some play in the music. Little did I know
there was an Aborigines and a bunch of Europeans making the beautiful
sounds that were coming from my speakers. The Aborigine made sense..(the
didgeridoo, tribal percussion & a rain stick), but guys from Manchester
and other parts of europe putting out these funky, deep thought sounds!?
I didn't quite understand...not complaining(it's how things should be),
but curious! And what's up with the name(sweet name for a group),
CURIOUS!! Well, I did my research and to my surprise the name
"Jamiroquai" is the word "JAM" and "Iroquois" combined (changed a little
bit).
Just some background for those unfamiliar to the word "Iroquois" and
what it has to do with (not trying to bore anyone, but JAMI fans
hopefully will appreciate it). The Iroquois League was a union of
Iroquoian-speaking North American Indian peoples, originally composed of
the SENECA, CAYUGA, ONONDAGA, ONEIDA, and MOHAWK Indians. TUSCARORA became the sixth member of the league in the early 18th century. The tribes
occupied a territory comprising what is now NEW YORK'S MOHAWK Valley and
Finger Lakes region. South bordered what is now today the NEW YORK-PENNSYLVANIA state line.
I found it neat because I live in Pennsylvania and I also have Mohawk
indian blood in me! Music made for ME!!!!!!!! So I kind of take
the music to heart......I really need to see these guys in concert!!!!
I also love music with a message.......Oh yeah one more thing to add,,,I
was reading a magazine called "High Times"(dope smoking magazine) & it
had about 3 pages on jamiroquai...I just thought I'd add my 2 cents!! :)
