I just received this review of Galactic's show in DC which took place
on Saturday night:

> Galactic put on a fine show Saturday night
> here in Washington, DC. They played the State of the Union on U Street.
> The U Street corridor has been revitalized in the last few years. It used
> to be the center for Black entertainers in DC, until it got burned-out in
> the 60's riots. The Lincoln Theatre is a block away, and Duke Ellington's
> birthplace is right around the corner.
>
> The boys played for about an hour and 45 minutes. Robert and Stan kicked
> it off with a funky bass/drum groove and didn't let up for the whole night.
> A few from the CD - "Church," "There's Something Wrong With This Picture,"
> and of course "Go Go," since DC is home to the Go Go scene (and also Robert
> and Jeff). The rest was great-sounding new material with a Meter's cover
> thrown in for good measure. They looked like they were having a great time
> - lots of smiles exchanged between Robert and Stan. They also had a West
> coast sax player by the name of SKERIK sitting in. This show was much more
> intense then when they played Rockville, Maryland back in the Fall.
> Stanton Moore has got to be one of THE BEST funk drummers I have ever seen,
> and I have been a fan of New Orleans funk for close to 30 years. Zigaboo
> Modeliste, John Vidacovich, Russell Batiste, Kenneth Blevins - Stan can
> kick-it with the best of them. He just sits there with a big shit-eatin
> grin on his face, doesn't even look like he breaks a sweat.
>
> The small club was packed. There was the usual DC delegation of Robert and
> Jeff's family and friends. But even better, there were other New Orleans
> music-hounds like myself there. I just hope more and more people are
> getting turned-on to Galactic!
>
> Funkify Your Life!
>
> George Gerhold
