Hey y'all...

Tony's death is really sad news, eh? It's still unbelievable to me what
this guy was capable of at the age of 16/17 when he started playing with
Miles. Miles tells some funny stories in his autobiog about trying to
dress Tony up to look old enough to get into the clubs they were s'posed to
play in. I've seen some live footage of this band that totally blew me
away - songs like Footprints went crazy live. This stuff he's continued to
do since then is great jazz ... the recentish Tony Williams quintet albums
like Songs of Neptune (early 90s?) are wild ... acoustic stuff with both
really ferocious and tender moments, and beautifully written tunes.

Thanks for raising this on the list, anyway. This kinda news doesn't
usually travel down here too well.

Peace

Kurt
