Since the definition of AJ is so vague, I thought that it would be okay
for me to include a recommendation for Zhane's new album called Saturday
Night. Actually, I wouldn't call it AJ, but it does fit into this
emerging category that people are calling alternative R&B or
neo-classical soul/R&B (Maxwell, Erykah Badu, Eric Benet, Rahsaan
Patterson, Adrianna Evans, D'Angelo, Me'shell Ndege'ocello, etc...).
The album is not extremely jazzy, but they performed on BET's Planet
Groove with a tight jazz band; their performance was exceptional (the
highlight was their performance of "Piece It Together" featuring Will
Downing).
