On Saturday June 14th and Sunday une 15th, 1997 the National Academy of
Songwriters and the Musicians Institute present Urban Focus: A conference
and journeyinto the creative and business sides of the music industry.
Urban Focus is first and foremost an educational overview with classes,
workshops and panels of varying levels offered throughout the day. This
weekend event will be held at the Musicians Institute located at 1655
McCadden Place in the heart of Hollywood, California.
Urban Focus is designed to provide valuable information and networking
opportunities for songwriters, producers and artists of all levels and will
focus on music in general and topics specific to the R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop and
Gospel markets.
Urban Focus also offers numerous opportunities for writers, producers and
artists to be heard by A&R representatives, publishers, managers, attorneys,
music supervisors and program directors. Registants will get the opportunity
to hear from their established contemporaries on panels and during one-on-one
mentor sessions featuring representatives of various facets of the industry.
Well-screened acts will be presented during a performance showcase held in
the main auditorium at the institute Saturday evening and a private industry
mixer will be held on Sunday evening to wrap up the conference.
