Yo,

Can anyone give me a review on Lewis Taylor's offering. I heard the Lewis
Taylor tune on one of the Rebirth of Cool CDs. I was blown away. The song
had a motown/tr*p h*p feel.

Subject: Squarepusher vs. Vibert

I have both Squarepusher CDs. I personally prefer "feed me weird things."
I think the Squarepusher theme off of the first is brilliant.
I play both regularly, but I must say this:

I'll take Plug/Vibert's "tricksy showing-off" on "Drum and Bass for Papa"
over
both of the Squarepusher's anyday, but that's just my personal opinion
and I
am in no way trying to start a "who is better than who" thread or flame.

I guess I'll contribute my top five:

1. Moloko - Do you like my tight sweater?
2. Lewis Taylor - Lewis Taylor
3. Isaac Hayes - Tough Guys soundtrack
4. Bernard Hermann - Taxi Driver Soundtrack
5. Plug - Drum n' Bass for Papa

>If you like that early 70's fusion sound (Chick Corea, early
>Return-to-Forever & George Duke stuff) and you like drum & bass, I think
>you'll have a hard time not liking this one. Tom Jenkinson is obviously
a
>bit of a muso, but even though some of the drum programming is very
complex
>it doesn't come over as tricksy showing-off (compare and contrast with
Luke
>Vibert's "Plug" efforts.) There is a groove at work here.
