There isn't a Grant Green album that I've heard (and I think I have them all)
that I didn't like, to be honest. Grant had a wonderful lyrical style that was
very different from Wes Montgomery's (a contemporary of his). Why his albums,
for the most part, were semi-ignored in the jazz scene is beyond me...

I was just listening to Green's cover of "Hurts So Bad" last night and
considered posting a "top one" list with this song. This one's on a Blue
Note rare groove series release, "Carryin' On," recorded in 69. This
whole album has these great, smooth groove, long tracks that you wish
wouldn't stop. I could kick myself when I consider all the crap I used to
listen to when this recording when this recording first came out. Now I
guess I've got to get my hands on this live album you...
