DRAGON BOND RITE brings together virtuoso mask dancers and musicians in an
exciting new performance dedicated to the essence of Asian music, dance and
poetry with leading performers from five countries. The work was conceived
and composed by JIN HI KIM, with Artistic Director RICHARD EMMERT, libretto
by ARMAND SCHWERNER, lighting design be JENNIFER TIPTON and set design by
HYUN JOO KIM.

The work was commissioned by the Japan Society and the Washington performance
is presented by the Korea Society.

Ms. Kim has been developing the work for the past three years with research,
study and collaboration with artists from five countries. DRAGON BOND RITE
reflects Kim's most ambitious work to date developing the area of 'living
tones'. This is a concept of each note having a life of its own with its own
nuance, shape, inflection and breath and results from her training as a
Korean traditional musician in the style of both shamanism and court music.
