Hi y'all,

Yeah, I agree that this D*Note thang is worth a listen. Apart from the vox
and the influence of Matt Cooper (who plays a beautiful piano solo on one
track as well as producing and writing), I just really enjoyed the
production on the thing. The sounds seem to float beautifully over the
grooves, really light keyboard sounds, some flute thrown in at different
times, melodic vocals. But even without the hard sounds, for me it never
drifts into "elevator" drum and bass, largely because the musicianship
gets very heavy at times ... some pretty cool jazz influenced playing and
progressions keep it moody and interesting. I've got a friend who likes
the grooves but thinks the vocals get in the way ... for those who may be
like-minded, on the local release here in Australia, they've included a
bonus disk which is the soundtrack to the short film (also produced by Matt
Finn I think) "Coming Down". This is mostly instrumental versions of the
album tracks, and it's great too. Of course, you might be like me and find
yourself humming the vocals as you listen ... ;-). Oh yeah ... it has
great cover art as well!
