Regarding Solaar's new one...Being that I have become a Phillipe Zdar
worshipper (he and boom bass of la funk mob do to beats), Solaar's new
one is my hip-hop record for the fall. Paradisiaque certainly isn't as
jazzy, but the music is smooth and tight. Although the music is all
downtempo, it shows the subtle influences of Zdar's work with house music
genius-group Motorbass. Filtered soul-samples laid on top of
sophisticated rhythms--brilliant!
