I actually don't know shit about Squirrel Nut Zippers, but that hasn't
stopped anybody lately from posting to this list (just kidding, just
kidding; anyway, it's never stopped me ;-)

I did check out a couple tracks off their latest cd when I was in L.A.,
where it seemed to be considered pretty hip listening. They have at least
one other cd release. The music struck me as neo-jive/swing, somewhat in
the manner of Toronto's BIG RUDE JAKE and Joe Jackson's JUMPIN' JIVE album
and some Leon Redbone tracks and moments in Tom Waits -- i.e., old style
20s and 30s Cotton Club jazz in the Cab Calloway and Louis Jordan and Duke
Ellington line. I may be misremembering the way I want to, though. Now I'm
intrigued and will probably go buy the effing thing.

Thanks for reminding me and for putting up with yet another supererogatory
posting
