I was reading about the people on the jury of the Cannes Film Festival and
was suprised to see MC Solaar's name among others such as Sigourny Weaver,
Winona Ryder, and Lena Olin. Is this the first rapper to be on a film
jury? This certianly says a lot about the state of french hip-hop. I
remember a strory about the culture minister who in the early 90s brought
in Suprême NTM to do a show at some formal gathering in Paris. Slowly but
surly their catching on. And, Ice Cube has been getting props by reviews
for a good start in movie direction in "The Players Club". Ironicaly the
opinion was that he directed the women better than the men.
