****** NEWS AND INFORMATION FROM oodiscs *****
Three new compact discs released by oodiscs featuring: contemporary chamber
music of ORLANDO JACINTO GARCIA (Miami), honking, squonking, squeeling sax of
TOM GURALNICK(Albuquerque) and 9 SOUTH AMERICAN COMPOSERS of electronic music.

OO #42. ORLANDO JACINTO GARCIA: Celestial Voices
THE VILLAGE VOICE called him ".... an intriguing new composer." and stated
"Garcia's post-Feldman aesthetic is lovely." As evidenced by this CD, the
Cuban/American composer's sonic explorations continue to evoke attention.
VOCES CELESTIALES features exquisite performances by a virtuoso cast
including the venerable bassists Burt Turetzky, Robert Black, flutist Robert
Dick, pianists Anthony deMare, Paul Hoffman and many others.

OO #44. BROKEN DANCES: Tom Guralnick
Improvs for saxes augmented with an array of electronic devices, home-made
mutes and hybrid winds made of cannibalized instruments and hardware store
finds. Guralnick's sonic explorations evolve into an electronic stew of loops
and samples. "Witty and versatile... his inventive improvisations are full of
surprises and unexpected evocations..." P-FORM MAGAZINE

OO #45. FROM THE OTHER SIDE: South American Composers
A survey of recent electronic music work by 9 composers from six South
American countries, all in a very cosmopolitan style yet often showing traces
of strong regional influences: Nicolas Suarez, Alfredo del Monaco, Antonio
Russek, E. Reck Miranda, Elsa Justel, Sergio Carlos & Oscar Garcia, Alejandro
Jose and Ricardo dal Farra.
