Audio CD copying

Please excuse me for being a little off topic here, but I recall a
discussion on making digital copies from audio CD's. I have had some
success with my 24x Creative (cd2423e on secondary IDE master) & Windac
1.33, but most of the time when I run Windac or CD copy the machine
locks up and dies while accessing the drive. If I use cdworx it tells me
my drive does not support copying. This seems very illogical- I run a
program 7 times and it works perfectly once. copying with Cool96 works,
but I believe it is recording the cd's audio signal.

As the drive is fairly new there is not a lot of info available on it. I
read somewhere that the current build of win95 has dodgy cd drivers and
that these can be replaced by the original win95 drivers. I also heard
that to make digital copies you have to be using the manufacturers
driver, not mscdex.exe. In the control panel settings the drive is
listed as not requiring a driver. The driver settings are as follows..
config sys: DEVICE=C:\CDROM\VIDE-CDD.SYS /D:MSCD000
Autoexec.bat:
rem - By Windows Setup - C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD000 /M:2
/L:F
Am I right in thinking windows is ignoring the config.sys?
Any advice very gratefully received.
Thanks
