That's not true, at least in the U.S., which is the only reason why real
big-name artists can afford to have double albums released. Since they cost
higher per unit over a single album (not to mention costing a little more
to produce), sales of a double album are generally lower than a standard
album, and record industry execs normally scream and fret whenever one of
their artists comes out with a double album (unless they feel the artists'
name and popularity can justify it.
