I have to disagree. Headhunters, is not fusion. . .I mean, I suppose
technically it is a fusion of styles but to me fusion is GRP shit put
out in the 80's. To me, Headhunter's achieves something that so-called
acid jazz rarely does - it goes and in digs, searches for something.. .
the way jazz does. Acid-jazz just doesn't really carry out the jazz
aesthetic or mission.

I've heard people say, "Well, they were doing acid-jazz back in the
60's and 70's, but they didn't call it that. . . in fact they were doing
it much better than anyone is today."

I don't know. I would agree with some of that, but there is definitely
hip stuff out today that has a much more contemporary vibe to it.

But, none of what is going on today would be what it is, if it weren't
for albums like HeadHunters.
