Since youre a Native Tounges fan you should look for Q-Tip's recent
solo-12". I dont remember the title of it but he released it under the
name Lone Ranger (as oposed to Q-Tip).

I can relate to not liking Foxxy Brown and Lil Kim :)
In my opinion, the best female mc's out there right now is What What
from Natural Resource (check their "negro league" 12"), Bahamadia and
the MassMen/Project Blowed affiliate (and VERY good looking, if i may
add) Medusa (!!! one of my fave mc's right now..man OR woman !!!).
Medusa just dropped the 12" "Do it the way you feel it" on Good Vibe
Recordings.

Other than that id recomend:

everything from MassMen and Project Blowed (without doubt the most
innovative heads in Los Angeles): Awol One (who just dropped a 12"),
Abstract Tribe Unique (check for "Underground Fossils" on Oceanfloor
Records), Haiku De'Tat (Aceyalone, Mikah9 and Ab Rude + a live band!),
Aceyalone (new album dropping any day now), Rifleman, L'roneous + + +
Oh..and roumors has it that there will be a new Freestyle Fellowship
album this year, that would DEFENETLY be worth checking out.

Living Legends: Mystik Journeymen, Bizarro, Murs, The Grouch, Eligh,
Aesop and Elusive (+ a couple of japanese kids) makes up one of the bay
areas dopest crews. Mystik Journeymen's "black sands of eternia" LP
should drop soon.

Quannum (formerly known as Solesides): Dj Shadow, Chief Xcel/Gift Of Gab
(Blackalicious) and Lyrics Born / Lateef The Truth Speaker (Latyrx).
Blackalicious' "melodica" stands as a classic album and Latyrx' self
titled LP was amongs the dopest things to come out last year.

The whole K'Boro/Jazz Fudge crew: Especialy Dj Vadim who in my opinion
might be THE most innovative producer the world have seen in a looong
time. Mark B (who just did a 12" with Juice Aleem for Big Dada
Recordings and a 12" with Blade for K'Boro) and Part 2 (dono what hes
been up to lately) is allso worth spending alittle money on.

And of course..the DJ's.... X-ecutioners "x-pressions" is imho one of
the best albums of 1997 and if we're lucky we'll see a Invisibl Skratch
Piklz album this year..but until then you can pick up some Skratch Piklz
tapes or their EP "invisibl skratch piklz vs da klamz uv deth"...

ok..i could go on and on about all the stuff you should go out and buy,
but i wont bore you no more.. peace!
