The All Music Guide says his father was a famous artist called William Steig.
A couple of the Jeremy Steig records I've got feature illustrations by Jeremy.
They have an almost child like quality (i.e. they're not very good) :)

I haven''t heard that one. The first of his records I bought is on Solid State
from the late 60's and it's called "This Is Jeremy Steig". I haven't listened
to it for a long time, but it's not that great - a bit all over the place.
Next I picked up one by his band called "Jeremy & the Satyrs". It's kind of
jazz rock. My fave track on there is called "(Let's Go) To A Movie Show" -
grrreat.

My favourite J.S. album is actually from the 70's (early I think). It's a
double album on Groove Merchant called "Fusion". It's brilliant. It features
Jan Hammer on keyboards making all these great electronic sounds. I've heard
that "Fusion" is actually two of his other albums packaged as one. The
material all sounds like it was recorded at the same time though. The tracks
are:

Home
Cakes
Swamp Carol
Energy
Down Stretch
Give Me Some
Come with Me
Dance of the Mind
Up Tempo Thing
Elephant Hump
Rock #6
Slow Blues in G
Rock #9
Rock #10
Something Else

Anybody know what other albums these songs are from? The first time I heard
it, I recognised one of the tunes from somewhere else (I think it was "Up
Tempo Thing" - which isn't actually uptempo by the way???). There was an album
a few years ago called "Planet London". It was on Tongue 'n' Groove and it
featured the winners of some music competition put on by Time Out magazine.
There's a song on there called "High On Life" by Sugar Foot. They've copied
the song and added vocals. The singer is Nicola Bright-Thomas, who soon after
became the singer with Izit. I wonder if they acknowledged at the time that it
was actually a cover.

I've got an album by a flautist called Roger Eckers. That's got some great
stuff on it. Covers of "Use Me", "Ain't No Sunshine" and some cool originals.

I haven't heard much stuff by Pucho unfortunately, but what I have heard has
featured some great flute (don't know who's playing it).

Someone mentioned Greyboys 2nd album (which I'm afraid I haven't heard), but
his first album has some great flute on it (Karl Denson's his name I think).
Then there's the early Ubiquity "XXX Cookin'" compilatons featuring Greyboy
and others.

Cheers,
Alex
