i've been lurking recently due to a severe lack of cash, buying back
catalogue stuff, but thanks to the teamsters, i now have a living wage.
so here are some mini-reviews of some new stuff i've picked up:

*de la soul re-releases. so far i've ben able to find "buddy," "a roller
skating jam named saturday," "say no go," and "plug tunin'". all are
tommy boy 12"s. i was a little surprised to find these, but they're
already an indispensable part of my box.

*mos def "universal magnetic". dope dope dope. get in on the ground
floor. a 12".

*groove collective "dance of the drunken master" -- on shanachie of all
labels. i'm about halfway throught the album. it's definitely more
eclectic than the other two, and heavier on the electronics. i think it
will stand up, but it almost sounds too slick. the raw sound of the
debut really got me. anyone else have thoughts? there is also a live
tape available by mail...details at www.groovecollective.com.

*cut chemist meets shortkut "live at the futureprimitive sound session"
sick sick sick. a real scratchattack.
