Hi all,
I'd say stand alone units are a waste of money if you have a decent
computer at your disposal. As well as making audio cds you can of
course back up data. I use a teac 4 speed with scsi (you need scsi for
100% error free performance). It reads tracks in 10-20 secs, which I
temporarily dump on the hard drive, then compile + burn my own cd, which
takes 15 minutes. the cdrs work on all cd players I've tried so far. I
also copy cds directly via a scsi cdrom.. all this cost me about 500ukps
or so.
Hope this is helpful,
Rob
PS Don't ever buy unbranded cdrs, TDK blues work best for me.
