I went on a wild shoppin spree in past week.
Finally picked up that Styles of Beyond disc, and I
must say those boys are smokin'! Tight lyrics, minimal
beats, but overall very good.
Also grabbed Mike Ladd's old disc. While I usually
dig spoken word, I haven't quite got into Ladd yet.
But then again, I only listened to it once.
Bought Sly and Robbie's Stripped to the Bone last
weekend. Pretty good stuff. But I thought it was going
to have more of a reggae dub sound to it. With Howie B
involved it's got this weird hip-hop, trance, dub
sound to it. But I have been jammin' a few tracks off
it hard.
Got the Common and Sadat X single, "i'm fightin'
for freedom ... writin' for freedom." That song is
head and shoulders above the other stuff Common has
put out recently.
Well that's it from me, I admit, a little behind on
a lot of it. But now I gotta go touch up my "Will Work
For Food" sign...Peace.
