turntable troubleshooting?

Hello.

I know I'm off-topic as far as this list goes, but I figured it wouldn't
hurt to ask a turntable question seeing as how many vinyl manipulators are
subscribed to this list. So, here goes...

Does anyone know of a website or newsgroup that can answer minor DJ
problems? Maybe someone here can help. I think my Ortofone cartridges are
having grounding problems (I get the buzz). You see what happens is that
whenever I touch anywhere near the stylus, I get that buzzing noise
(60-cycle hum, like a ground problem), and when I play a record, it only
comes out of one channel. I think there's a short or something on the
connections, but I can't tell if it's the cartridge or the connections on
the tone arm of my 1200. I can temporarily fix the problem by nudging the
head of the cartridge down and this usually fixes it for a few hours
depending on how long I play around on the decks. This all started after I
plugged my cartridges into a pair of decks (not mine) that had been
experiencing this problem already, and I didn't figure the problem would
follow me home.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Has this happened to anyone else?
Is all my gear screwed up? Someone please help...

Peace,
Ha
