Damn, I hope Richard (?) got what he was looking for! :)

>I think this "left coast" hype in the mainstream
>independent hip hop media
>is pretty funny considering how much great music there
>has been made on the
>West coast throughout the nineties, from "mainstream" to >"underground",
from
>Dr. Dre to Project Blowed to MC Eiht to Pharcyde. It's
>great to see all
>these new acts like Dilated getting their props though!!!

You don't have to tell me, although "The Chronic" is what made me stop
listening to hip-hop after for while. Not the album itself, which was ill,
but all the bullsh*t that came after it. The west coast has always been
hype. Dilated's just on some real hip-hop sh*t, imo. Evidence is a cat to
watch out for...on all fronts...in the future.

>Also, even though I like their music, I've started to
>have a problem with
>groups like Lootpack who seem to only rhyme about topics >like "real hip
hop"
>and what happens to "wack emcees" crossing their path. It >kinda gets
boring
>after a while!

No doubt...I'm all about beats, but there's got to be some substance to the
lyrics.

>Ha. I have heard all of that stuff as a matter of fact.
>I'm on the West,
>but I don't think that means anything. I mean sure
>you're gonna hear a few
>joints like Work the Angles and be like, that's catchy,
>but next year, that
>shit aint gonna be played. Sure it's hip-hop, but just
>about everything is
>nowadays.

Not everything is hip-hop. I work for The Source...a lot of it's garbage...a
lot of it.

Shane, you make me realize the beauty of hip-hop. Some of it's weak, some of
it's true, and some of it is pushing the boundaries of the genre (like a
Kool Keith). I'm feeling you in a way, though...like someone said, maybe
you've just stopped listening. There's raw sh*t out there, though, if you're
interested. Respect.

FTR, Work the Angles ain't being played now...that's part of my problem!

Good insight...Aceyalone is a dope MC. I'm glad *I've* been learning
something throughout this. :) Some of you are on some cosmic sh*t. THAT'S
hip-hop!

Ronnie
