I *like* the Groove Dis lists, they are usually the only good mail I get on
Sundays. Its a convenient way to find out about comes out each week, a lot more
convenient than me trying to keep up with each and every label. I just haven't
got the knowledge, time or contacts to find all that out on my own. The
highlights of week help weed through the crap, I'll check those, and after that
go digging for the secret stuff.
Do you not appreciate the various radio playlists and charts that get posted?
Why is it different than the GrooveDis list? Thought I admit, the posts
sometimes make me itch for my credit card, I haven't got a credit card, so I
just get informed instead. I need stuff like this to give me a clue where to
start. Sure, I can check the Ninja Tune site every week, but how am I going to
learn about the other labels I need to start keeping tabs on?
Disclaimer: I've got a full mp3 library that if I had a conscience, I'd probably
feel bad about, because as axel pointed out last week, its stealing. My weak
justification is that I spend all (ALL) my money on records but still cant keep
up for my 3 hour radio show once a week. 2 weeks ago someone called up to say
'Didn't you play that song last week?'. very weak, I know, but I've got that
whole lack of morals and values thing going for me, so I some how manage to sleep
    at night.
On the sound quality issue, anything above 96kbs works for the radio but I tried
burning some to play out at Knock Knock and they didn't even come close to
sounding as good as the vinyl (plus the lovely looks I got for playing a CD, but
that's another topic (that, please, no one go into!)). so now I'm going to have
to get those on vinyl as well. For the smaller, vinyl oriented labels, its turns
into a good thing that I got a hold of their mp3.
I seem to have talked myself into a circle here, but guess the point is, things
are in the middle of changing. But no matter what the format, I still appreciate
a guide, whether its a DJ in a club who doesn't mind when I dash up to the
turntables and make myself dizzy trying to read the track title or a weekly post
    in my email.
