I have to second this ... the live album at the Jazz Cafe is totally dope
in my opinion. I think six tracks in all, including a great cover of Earth
Wind and Fire's "You can't hide love" that really shows some of the
continuities between what D is doing and some older 70s shit. I got it as
a Japanese-only release on import. One of those albums that every time I
play it for someone they're like "what *is* this?!!"

Funny that all you folks in the US have been so bombarded with hype about
Voodoo. Where I am, unless I'd been keeping an eye on okayplayer.com, I
prolly never would have known the album was out! No hype at all to speak
of. Still haven't got the album (if it's a "classic" it'll keep! :-)), but
am liking the "left and right/untitled" 12" I picked up last year (although
I have to say method man and redman don't do much for me here....)

While I'm writing, I should also mention....

    Theo Parrish "Summertime is here"

Finally tracked down a copy of this 12" on his Sound Signature label. 10
minutes or so of absolute bliss. This thing works for me in a way that I
*wanted* the Innerzone Orchestra to work, but it never quite did. Very
moody, fabulous use of jazz samples with some live instruments and singing
in the mix. Towards the end it starts sounding like a 90s detroit take on
Sun Ra. Can't wait for the album!!

Also have recently picked up some older stuff that has lived up to high
    expectations, including
-- the Terry Callier "best of" album that has stuff from his years on the
    Cadet label
-- Cannonball Adderley's "Phenix", 1975 remakes of some classics like Walk
Tall and Country Preacher with George Duke on keys for some of it
-- Minnie Ripperton's "Perfect Angel" and "Adventures in Paradise", replete
with a few Tribe Called Quest samples that keep distracting me from that
    beautiful voice

    back to work..

    Kboi
