first i'll introduce myself a la aj demographics:

22 yr old asian female sagittarian, toronto. kind of always been into all
sorts of music, bought de la's "3 ft high and rising" at age 11 (which i
never heard anyone consider to be aj till reading these posts). dad also
had stuff like coltrane and sade around the house (then again he also had
heart and yoko ono, so whatever that means). more recently (past bunch of
years) gotten into brazilian and afrobeat thru local dj's (songs like
"carcara", "agua de beber", "zombie" were life changing revelations). went
to england and listened to gilles peterson's radio show and had the best
time at his night at bar rumba a few years ago. so that's me....

slum village: heard they are amazing live, missed them when they were in
town. many people rated them as the best live hip hop show of the year
along with jurassic5/ dilated peoples and bahamadia. check them out if they
come around to your city.

okay, my question is this: the first version i ever heard of bill withers'
"use me" was the version by esther phillips and i immediately fell in love
with it. what album of hers is this song on? i also have a wicked version
by grace jones. i hear that there's also a version by lenny kravitz (icky,
but i'd check it out anyway). i think i've also heard a vocal jazz type
version. can anyone else name off a few more versions of this track? email
me or something please!

also, shouts to denise benson - love your show (whenever i catch it) and
your sets at glide and 52inc parties are always wicked!
