hiya,

Haven't had time to respond to this one, but I'm surprised that no one has
mentioned stuff like early Shut Up & Dance stuff....both their singles and
the (now very rare) compilation of SUAD label stuff, including very early
Ragga Twins material. This one is definitely more on the breaks/pre-jungle
jungle tip, but heavily house influenced. Same with early Rebel MC (late
'80s/early '90s)...pre-Congo Natty stuff and way more poppy, but also
house/acid house flavoured. Then there's the very first Rockers Hi-Fi
album, featuring "Push Push," "What a Life" and so on and *so* much more
from that particular time period...Wee Papa Girls (some of their stuff was
great fun, especially 'Wee Rule')...all the Ska-meets-acid house comps of
that time....early Creation Records comps, oh gosh...one of my all time
favourite periods in music. Most of all, I think of *early* Smith & Mighty,
including some tracks on the Bass Is Maternal album, but especially
ragga/house productions they did for/with a vocalist named Carlton (ffrr
Records) eg. "Do You Dream."

I could go on about this, but shan't at the moment as most of what I'm
talking about is older and not that easy to come by, but it makes me happy
just thinking about it all. Cheers ya'll.
