Yea, me too! The best stereo equipment I've got is in my car. Between work and home, drive time is my only/best time for jamming. I've got a 99 Beetle that offers the perfect space for dnb, as well as all that other acid-jazzy, trip-hoppy, grooving stuff we talk about here.

It all depends on your budget but I'd recommend:

Decent speakers (>$50) for front and rear (coaxials or separates) that can handle a little bit of power. No, they don't need to handle 200 watts. Front speakers are the most important, I'd put more money in those.

A powered deck or amplifier to bring out the best in your front and rear speakers.

A subwoofer with it's own amplification and low-pass capabilities.

The amount of power you need depends on whether you want to rock your neighbor's world or just your own. While it may not be optimal, I've got the following in my ride:

Front- 5 1/4" Clif Design coaxials along with factory tweeters -Powered by a 2 channel amp X 35 watts with built-in high pass.

Rear - 6 1/2" Infinity coaxials
Subwoofer - 8" MTX Blue Thunder
-Powered by a 4 channel amp X 35 watts. 2 channels to the rear and other 2 bridged to the subwoofer with low-pass filter.

It doesn't rattle my neighbors windows but it makes my aging ears happy. A couple of years ago I was big into car audio as a hobby. If you'd like to discuss anything more in detail, contact me off-line.

Later,

Devon

Hey folks -

Anyone here listen to dnb in their car stereos? I do, and as I was surveying my car speakers, I found out that I've ruptured not one, not two but three of my car stereo cones. I've known one to be ruptured a while back, but I didn't know the problem was that severe until recently...I'd been blasting drum n bass mixtapes through my car stereo, and I guess it's taken its toll on my speakers...I was planning to replace them anyway, but...gee...

Anyone here have an "optimal" system for listening to dnb?
