    ARTIST BIO¹S

    TONY ALLEN
Tony Allen's long awaited new album, "Black Voices", joins the dots between
the 70's and the millennium. As a drummer, composer and songwriter Nigerian
born Tony Allen is the living legend of Afrobeat music.

In the mid-sixties, Tony Allen and "Black President" Fela Kuti invented a
modern voodoo style, a radical new funky sound they called Afrobeat. A
blend of jazz and traditional African music, the Afrobeat sound developed
markedly during their 1969 US tour where they met the high priests of black
american music (James Brown, Art Blakey, Max Roach...). The result was an
afrobeat sound that incorporated the funk rhythms of the time. The concept
of "One idea, one song" was what Fela and Tony learned, this they delivered
in their new band "Fela Kuti & Africa 70's".

Tony's influence on Fela's music was profound, in addition to being the lead
drummer of the band, he was also Fela's musical director, keeping the
rhythms simple allowing Fela to deliver the message. Tony left Fela in 1977
and went to Europe to develop new sounds, to confront his music with
different cultures, and to grow by fellow artists injecting their own
knowledge through his music. This resulted in the "N.E.P.A." project and
recording sessions with Roy Ayers, Ray Lema, and Manu Dibango.

"Black Voices" was recorded in Paris with contributions from Clip Payne and
Mudbone Cooper (P-Funk Allstars), fench guitarist Seb Martel (Vercoquin,
Sinclair, Teri Moise) and ivoryan bassist Cesar Anot (Alpha Blondy, Cheikh
Tidiane Seck). Produced by Doctor L., the acclaimed Parisian
hip-hopologist, "Black Voices" highlights why Tony Allen is on of the most
    talented African musicians alive.

From the deep afrobeat trance of "Asiko" to the 70's soul inspired "Get
Together" Tony Allen travels along the road that has shaped his inner soul.
The title track "Black Voices" is an Afrodub anthem, "In a Silent Mix" an
atmospheric dream from the jungle roots. "Ariya", which was released in
January complete with Catalyst and Jeff Sharel mixes is already a recognised
    dancefloor bomb.

"Black Voices" is a timeless album, reflecting Tony Allen's music past,
present and future time. Full of soul, wamth and generosity...This is an
    african world!
    ____________
    LTJ BUKEM
U.K.-based LTJ BUKEM, arguably the godfather of drum 'n' bass, graces Los
Angeles, and in the process, takes the genre to new heights of jazz,
ambient, soul, rare and everything else you can imagine. Bukem as well as
having several records labels, is a DJ, entrepreneur, figurehead, shining
light...and one of the most recognizable faces in a genre not famed for its
    love of publicity.

"LTJ Bukem is one of those redefining the contours of drum and bass, setting
breaks in electronic soundscapes until the seemingly impossible happens:
    jungle collides with ambient."

    Fauna Flash
This is what you might not expect from German drum & bass! Fauna Flash are
Christian Prommer and Roland Appel. Since their first release on Compost in
1995 Fauna Flash became the first German drum & bass outfit getting props
from the Metalheadz posse like Grooverider and Fabio who played their dubs
on their BBC Radio 1 Show "One In The Jungle"! All this resulted in a 12"
exclusive release on Peshay¹s label Elementz and their track "At The Movies"
appeared on the famous drum & bass compilation "Promised Land 3".

Fauna Flash, together with Rainer Trüby, also formed the Compost project
Rainer Trüby Trio which showcases their signature latin-bossa-electronic
sound. If you haven¹t heard their remix of Bobby Matos entitled ³Guiro
    Electro² your missing out.

    Press quotes:

    "Germany¹s answer to Reprazent"
    Mixmag

"Probably the best drum&bass album from Germany so far."
    Kruder & Dorfmeister

"Funky if not flashy drum & bass from Germany."
