    Hi there,

Before posting the track listing for tomorrow's show I'd like to share with you what I've done during last weekend. I spend my spare time listening to some great bands listed on Tree Top's web site (www.tree-top.com).

Tree Top's concept is great: You listen to a 1+1/2 minutes sample of each music in RealAudio format. If you like it you can add it to a CD track list. When you have 72m of music you can choose a CD cover and order your own compilation on-line and have it delivered to your door. The package is nice and the sound quality great (not the "am I missing something?" feeling I get from mp3 encondings!)

For some years we've been posting to this list some comments about how much money we spend just to get a tune from a compilation. If only other record companies would act like Tree Top... it would be a paradise to all music buyers. You could simply go to the record company web site, choose just the artists or tracks you like and then have it delivered to your door.

I also believe this is a great way for musiciens to sell they're music. This way everybody would know how much a particular artist/tune is doing and how much should the artist be payed. To all musicians on the list , what do you think? What do the record company's guys have to say about this?

Well, after browsing Tree Top's site, I reach a total of 68 great tunes I really liked. For that I would need 5 or 6 CD's so I listen again and finally came up with a superb 15 track compilation witch is playing again and again on my CD Player. Here's the 15 songs with a small comment token from Tree Top's site:

01-Black Market Audio-Perfectly ordinary People (Funk / Easy Tune)
(Catch a sneak view behind the mask with this dark, atmospheric psychedelic soundscape)
02-Capital R-sjoerd in the huis (Breakbeats / Funk)
(Infectious uptempo dancefloorkiller with golden oldie bassline and guitarpicking)
03-DiBaba-Sleep Baby, Sleep (Trip Hop / Experimental)
(Nice freakin’ industrial percussives ticking like the clock next to your bed while having a hell of a dreamtrip)
04-E.Motion-XQ’SS (Trip Hop / Trip Hop)
(Indian Ut trance with strong words and vocals, if you're a hoplover there are no excuses to miss this.
    05-Gellybooty-Dancefloor (Funk / Funk)
(Way down in the days of 1991, the mushroomman sent his grooves to the vibrating butts of the belly-booty people. Was that Terence T?)
06-Greenfield-Never be Trusted (Funk / Funk)
(I’ll never be busted you know why cos I’m trusted some say Dow some Mr. Jones every day I’m on mobile phones)
    07-Mi Muchila-Communar (Techno / Trance)
(Percussionated trip with steady bass, funky beats and mouthorgan. Excellent motorway tune that keeps you going on no matter what)
    08-Mo & The Family T.-Telepaddotea (Funk / Funk)
(Enjoy the sound of funky basses and clavinets on this tea-party and get possitiv vibrations)
09-Mo and the Funktransplant-Big Buds (Funk / Funk)
(A DownPitched Bassline, 1 kilo of Subbaze, a Recycled ’BlowHow’ Beat, a Grispy Gitaarslagje, a little bit of Djebbertalking, Seven sniffs of Hexatone)
10-Private Thoughts in Public Places-Start Button (Lounge / Trip Hop)
(An instruction manual for the uninitiated. Perfect lounge track with every you’ve ever dreamed off-button. Great opener for your custom CD!)
11-Reyn Ouwehand-Expanding shrink (Trip Hop / Trip Hop)
(Trippy piece with Mc Ferrin vocal sample, tenor, wah wah, flutes and a beautiful space sax solo in the middle)
    12-SFEQ-Bamba (World / Jazz)
(Brazilian-like Percussion track. Rio with turntables)
13-SFEQ-Aqua Mineral (Hip Hop / World)
(Hip Hop groove with brazillian rap/ vocals by Lilian Vieira stating life's more than a glass of mineral water. Real groovin' track)
14-Skoota-Groovee (Hip Hop / Hip Hop)
(You don't really wanna stop, no! Join the Skoota party and groove 'till you drop. Round the clock!)
    15-Trail mix-Tequila sunset (Trip Hop / Experimental)
(A rare house cut from a sunburn white label release in 1995. Part grenadine, part OJ, and a healthy splash of Don Julio tequila sipped in a hammock on a white washed verandah in your favorite sun spot - we like Puerto Vallarta, Mexico)

Of course, on the next shows, I'll be playing lots of Tree Top's recording artist. 4 are already ready to debut on the Portuguese airwaves.

    Now, for the complete listing...

Further details available at: 'http://www.funktasticas.com'. There you can find links to the band's sites and music. If there's anything missing just let me know. My e-mail is also ready to receive all your comments. Just send them to: pfonseca@funktasticas.com

    Bye bye later!
