    markeg,

live365.com and shoutcast.com are not the same entity. in fact live365 used
to forward their stations on to shoutcast (they would show up on the
shoutcast.com list). but due to lack of shoutcast to offer support for
advertising live365 stopped the procedure, hence the smaller number of
    people on live365.

i have a station on live365 that plays downtempo. it is in the top 10-12
everyday, which is kinda suprising with the crowd that gets supported on
live365 (there are ALOT more "rock" stations popin up and getting promoted
on the site). as though we dont have -enough- of that on everyday, local,
hometown radio. the site requires a cable modem/ISDN/DSL connection.

if anyone is interested, you can email me.

Dear list: i have been to both winamp/nullsoft/shoutcast radio page as well
as www.live365.com and the pages look the same . are they related? I guess
they both use nullsofts shoutcast technology to allow any one with apc to
webcast throught the web. but is it the same company. The pages look the
same in terms of layout and all. Both have a display showing how many
people are "tuned in" . The numbers are very small. smaller on live365 .com
than on winamp-radio but its a small number still listening to any one show
at any onetime . The only way to make money off this is to be the one
providing the server ,in this case nullsoft and www.live365.com. This may
be good in the populist sense but hardly the revolution in indeendent muic
we have been promised. you arent gonna break any new artists when you are
playing your "show" to 4 people (live365.com or 40 people on one of the
bigger winamp stations> . On the other hand we need someone on the list to
    get his own show!
    !
to represent the lists vibe on the net. I cant do as i surf from work and
on this crummy Virinconnect webpliance. but someone like jeroen could play
onef his cd on the web. Just get the space and play one of your cd "s.
You have already done the sequencing and mixing just rip it and play it on
    the web
    .
