Keyser & Shuriken - newsletter #38: Jet Society

    Newsflash 3.11.2000

    Dear friends,

As you could read the date of the last newsletter changed. Sometimes the
evil Gorilla leads our hands so excuse us for this little mistake.

This week was an easy one for us, except that poor Shuriken suffered from
tonsillitis at home; so this time Keyser and Lee'n'gum presented the radio
show, which was one of the longest with about five hours of non-stop music
delights. Unfortunately the server was down so you can't listen to it from
the archive. Sorry for that, next week we try to come back with an even
    more versatile playlist.

On Sunday we will have the chance to play in the best club of Zagreb,
Croatia called Aquarius. On these Sunday-night happenings "Kontrapunkt" -
hosted by Eddy & Dus - were spinning such names like Gilles Peterson,
Jazzanova, Beanfield, Raw Deal or Kyoto Jazz Massive among many others in
the last months; so we are thankful to these guys for inviting us. Check
out the club's site (http://www.aquarius.hr) and don't think twice if you
get an invitation from Eddy & Dus in the near future.

Here are some words from these guys:

"JET SOCIETY - or how new ways of communication made intercontinental
distances seem as short as the distance between the beginning and the end
of this sentence. [...] Members of the jet society realise that our
civilisation has a chance of survival only if we open the borders and fuse
the best achievements of different cultures. [...] People say the world is
becoming a global village. This remains an empty phrase until you get
progressive Croats dancing to the same tunes as the Japanese, British,
Americans and Germans, and not just accepting mainstream trends. Being
progressive means creating trends, not following them. There are people in
the world whose interests break the boundaries right from the moment
they're born. Their dreams becoming reality means globalisation. The
progress of a community is inevitably reversed unless it spreads on a
global scale; isolation means certain death for any system."
Dus' liner notes on their Kontrapunkt Festival
    (http://www.aquarius.hr/kontrapunkt.html)

Keep on being progressive till next week!
