well. . . now I have been back in Mexico city for barely a week, but so
far it seems that my fears of an acid-jazz-free planet were unfounded. The
City is very cosmopolitan, so you can find almost anything you want here!
I have been mostly unpackign and yet I have found several interesting
events in town. First of all, Los AMigos Invisibles played in a huge
festival last week and they are playing a club this weekend. I also found
out of a weekle downtempo/lounge event at the University's modern art
museum's cafeteria every thursday night. If I finish work early I may stop
by and I will tell you more later about it. Cool music is not hard to find
on commercial radio. there is a 24hs electronic music stateion (96.9) that
plays mostly house, but also includes cooler jazzier styles. Also,
yesterday, I caught a daily show (from 10pm to midnight) on another
commercial station which plays music friendly to this list. Yesterday's
guest DJ was Tito from the very popular metal rap group MOLOTOV, still his
selection of music included people like Tosca, DJ Me DJ You, Dub Pistols,
and LTJ Bukem plus the regular DJ played some some Kruder & Dorfmeister
and even some Erik Truffaz. Also, tomorrow URBE 01 is having its release
party (it{s a local electronic music mgz btw) and at least one of the
bands playing (BALBOA!) is doing a downtempo set. I will be there and may
also bring you a fuller report!

    axel
