The Soul Jazz DJs do 100% Dynamite every other week in London, and put on a
cool night in a hot and sweaty venue. As well as your reggae and ska
beauties they drop in some straight-ahead funky stuff too - Cymande, Anne
Sexton, etc etc. So it's definitely worth getting yourself along there.
It's also worth buying the 100% - 400% Dynamite compilations if you've not
already got them - they're all funky as hell.

Haven't got the Philadelphia comp yet, but I did get Soul Jazz's New
Orleans Funk comp at the weekend - 24 tracks from the likes of Lee Dorsey,
The Meters, Eddie Bo, Professor Longhair etc. Haven't read the sleevenotes
yet, but probably most of them produced/written by that genius bloke Allen
Toussaint, and all of it played in that tight but loose funky stylee
    typical of those records.

Also got The Avalanches' Since I Left You album at the weekend - so far
have only listened to sides 1 and 3, but they are beautiful, funky and
different. Anybody who samples Glen Campbell in the floatiest of northern
soul floaters (the title track) one minute then sounds like My Bloody
Valentine crossed with Martin Denny the next is fine by me.

They played on Sunday, the 8th (I think), and as I hadn't heard

This is what I'm looking for, people with a real love of music
    who
can point me in the right direction of the clubs that surely must exist
somewhere beyond the scope of my AJ tracking abilities.

<Where's the Irish acid jazz posse?>

Much like the lost city of gold, I can't find it. I've got a few
more clubs to cross off my list, so the search continues.

While I'm on, anyone familiar with 100% Dynamite or heard Soul
    Jazz
records: Philadelphia Roots? A little off topic, but It seems like it could
be a decent night out, any views?
