    title: Observations
    artist: The Bluefoot Project
    label: Chocolate Fireguard Music Ltd

Once in a while, a voice comes along to knock you sideways. That voice
belongs to Rachel Modest. Finishing her work here ³with child², her lyrical
observations have a timeless, deep rooted spirituality sadly lacking in most
contemporary ³soul influenced² music. Her tone, melody and rich vocal
harmonies contrive some of the most beautiful and truly soulful utterances
you may be privileged to hear all year.

Observations is the long awaited debut from West Yorkshireıs rising stars
³The Bluefoot Project² Straight to the point and distinctly urban, the band
who are reputedly named after Leeds City Centreıs ³ladies of the night ³
prove their song writing superiority over the rest of the pack. The band
kick out a cool live soul with deep grooves over lush sample based
technologies. Seasoned through appearances in club venues and festivals
(already including Glastonbury) live drums (Chris), bass and guitars (Matt)
produce clever, but airy song structures with enough space to let Rachelıs
nebulous vocal experience shine through. ³Oova² (MC) is the perfect
compliment , bringing with him a dry, street , down to earth perspective ³
satisfied with the drugs Iım using, satisfied with the food, satisfied with
    my broken computer....²

Itıs a diverse, moody and above all emotional affair. On tunes like ³Keep a
Secret² Rachel hits you with a fragility, often such that youıll want to
protect her from the evils of this world. Just listen to ³I Don't Need You²
! Like Aretha before her, sheıs an ability to make grown men feel guilty.
You are forced to go with her and the blues gets to you. Then right at the
end sheıs suddenly the most robust diva on the planet and starts telling
you off for being so weak!

A funkier ³Observations² finds the band in party mode, but all the while,
carefully studying human interactions with a spacey, hedonistic intuition,
later given full on funky Balearic house treatment from talented remix crew
Cienna (fresh from remixing Rae & Christian and Darren Emerson) Its the
detached watchfulness of The Bluefoot Project as well as their kick ass bass
line that lends itself so well to this kind of remix, while Acetateıs
colossal drumınıbass take on ³Experiment² helps propel their patient,
extra-terrestrialness to an extreme that might convince the conspiracists
among us, that Rachel is not of this earth, in fact she may even be here to
    save the music industry.

³I come from far away, I came without delay, donıt you trust no one else, I
come to save you from yourself²

Rachelıs personal journey actually involves Jamaican parents, relocating to
Sheffield with a strong gospel inspiration that runs through out her lush
harmonies. She was in the middle of her pregnancy when she finished these
tunes in the studio come house where the band live. Many life experiences
and influences have found their way into the mix. The Bluefoot Project site
Lamb, Massive Attack, Goldie, King Tubby amongst their influences and with
talent like this, The Bluefoot Project are clearly ready to take these to a
    new dimension.

The band are putting the finishing touches to debut album ³Brave²

Tunes already being remixed for Emotif Records drumınıbass remix 12²
