I have no doubt that the "live" sound will definitely make a comeback. It's
getting quite obvious that it's headed in that direction. Hip hop MCs
getting live bands to back them up, electronic musicians utilizing string
sections, live drummers, and even dancers to beef up the sound and the show.

What I think will happen in addition is that there will be less of a
delineation between live and programmed music. Especially in the studio.
The affordable programs and sonic tools will precisely allow producers to
use the scientific techniques commonly connected with electronic music on
    live musicians. It's happening now.

I doubt there will be a backlash (as in "Eww! Electronic disco music?
Yuck!"), but then that's because I love electronic, groove-heavy music.
