Uhh I don't think it's all about the producers. Kelis is marketed much
differently than Britney Spears. In the UK, she is HUGE, no joke. In the
US, she isn't. Everywhere else, I can't vouch for except Canada and she
isn't as big here. In summary, it's not entirely all about producers
because marketing is the tool that puts people in the right direction to
their sound. I still think her approach is lame and talentless and it sort
of shows that Neptunes are a little more concerned about money since they
are producing everybody and their dog right now (regardless of credibility,
it seems). I used to think Neptunes were quite good but their production
skills sound too similar and like near-duplications of previous work. The
only thing that has a different approach is their N*E*R*D album and a few
pieces of other production work. Again IMO.

    Concerning Madlib/YNQ:
Really I thought Madlib's production on Yesterday's New Quintet was awesome.
He kept it raw, uncompressed (sometimes sounds crunching out because of
clipping) and live sounding much like old jazz records (more emphasis on
ones that were used as hip hop samples) which is the emphasis of the project
entirely. Brilliant and surprisingly the first time a hip hop producer has
paid their respects to the music that keeps food on their plate.

Now what do people think of Jay Dee? I think he is great although I am not
so sure about his latest production bits for the new Slum Village album
"Trinity" and some things for Phat Kat's album. I know this man can do
damage so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Has anybody heard anything else?
The Dwele songs are great but a lot of it was produced by Dwele himself...
