Richard, thanks for initiating this thread. I was about to raise it to :)

Here is my top 10 tracks for 2001, although some of them are not released in 2001, I started to know them in this year, so still in my top 10 list.

following by a format of artist - track name - album name and why I like it.

    #10
Italian Secret Service - Via Beato Angelico - ID Super
A release from IRMA, an Italian label. Got the CD from Satellite Records shop in Boston and love it instantly. This is the track I like the most from the album, and the flute session in the middle is so smoooooth... Thank you Kendra (wish you can see this:) for recommending this shop to me!

    #9
King Kooba - Quorma (original mix)
Love the synth and the tension created by the beats

    #8
dZihan & Kamien - Je T'Aime...Moi, Non Plus - Electronica Gainsbourg
Serge's original late 60's hit is totally redone by dZihan & Kamien, the most outstanding track from the entire album. I used to love Paul Mauriat's rearranged version, but this one becomes my 2001 favorite for redoing.

    #7
Klute - Phone Call (Matrix mix)
Matrix knows how to mix this track, better than Hefner's :)

    #6
Beanfield - Abstractions - Human Patterns
Brings you abstract feeling from Germany... A missing pearl from the album, people always like to play other tracks like "the season" or "planetary deadlock". But this track really makes Beanfield stands out from the other groups.

    #5
Cim - Shift - Lush Life Electronica
Very electronica, simple layout but sounds so unique. Thanks Quango for discovering it!

    #4
Bebel Gilberto - Tanto Tempo ( Chari Chari voc remix) - Tanto Tempo Remixes
No need to explain the original track, but this remix further extends the flavor from the original version. Well done!

    #3
    track 5 from Chad's CD-ROM
Sorry I don't know the track name, it is track 5 from Chad's personal compilation "tidbits of pleasure" which he gave me on the day I visited him last month. I was so much into it first time I played it back in my hotel at 3am. It's a 3 minutes short one with simple keyboards and drum in mid tempo... Will get the name later...

    #2
Fauna Flash - Tel Aviv - Fusion
The great moment is when I put vinyl onto the turntable, it started to spin and sound floating into my ears from the big headphone back in Groove Merchant in Haight St., SF. Have listened to it for many many times but still gives you fresh energy everytime you play it.

    #1
Ian O'Brien - Midday Sun - Ian O'Brien presents Abstract Funk Theory
This crystal clear sound makes you want to dive into. Best of the best.

What's yours? Pls chime in and make your list and make an extra line of why you like it. That will be appreciated :)
