Well, doesn't this sort of get back to the question of the names for the genre(s)? Everyone's tastes are different, and no one person is going to know what is going to float your boat the day you walk into their shop.

I'd rather have the advantage of having the input from several different folks, reviewers, etc.

Don't get me wrong - there's no substitute for a well-versed salesperson. But just how much tme is one salesperson going to afford you? I like poking around forever on a kind of stream-of-consciousness search for stuff. (And conversely nothing drives me nuts more than when folks do that to me.) I can't think of much better fuel for that than the wondrous hyperlink.
