    Playlist for MONDAY JANUARY 22 . 2001 ** = Canadian artist
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pick of the Week: Pítaahís DeíCompressed (Ubiquity) is the best sort of
remix album anyone could hope for. Here, tracks from the Atlanta-based
producerís Compressed Light album are revisited by a slew of top-notch
UK & European nu jazz / broken beat producers. These are matches made in
musical heaven. Pítaah (aka Chris Brann, aka Wamdue) has an incredible
sense of space, texture and musicality and is truly touched by
like-minded spirits here. Remix artists include Ashley Beedle, Chateau
Flight, Opaque aka Seiji, Nubian Mindz and others. The three previously
unreleased Pítaah pieces are also superb. A must have.

Guests: The studio was buzzing with activity as loads of people dropped
by. Guests you would have heard on air included N-Tone (Ninja Tune
sister label) recording artist Fink, whose Fresh Produce album of last
year is an absolute, chilled-to-the-max delight. Heís also quite the
storyteller, be it in words or music. Catch Fink alongside fellow Ninjas
Strictly Kev of DJ Food and Dynamic Syncopation in Toronto this Saturday
(Jan. 27) at Reverb, 651 Queen St. W.

Later in the show, local producers Noel Nanton and Reeshi Chouhan, and
vocalist Sandra Flores popped in to tell us about People In the Back, an
upcoming party/producer showcase where four local underground house
producers will drop their own tracks in mixed sets. Watch for the little
light announcing when one of them plays their own unreleased biz-ness!
Thisíll be a great eve, with Noel and Reeshi DJíing alongside Stuart Li
and John Kumahara. Friday Feb. 9 at Una Mas, 422 Adelaide St. W.
