    It sounds like for your needs Soundforge is the best solution. If you
    needed to do multitrack sequencing then Protools would be A direction to
    go in, though Logic, Cubase, and Cakewalk offer similar features at better
    prices.

    In addition, I've heard that the free version of ProTools for PC is highly
    unstable. The advantage of protools is indeed the hardware. I have a
    friend who uses the 001 and I have to say it's pretty sweet.
    But then again, I use Cubase with an RME hammerfall card and I Luvvit!
