    i have some opinions...just opinions.
i've used a wide variety of mixers, not all of them of coarse.
as for amps and spaekers i have personal preferences, too.

    mixers:
-numark: i like the sm-1. the sm-2 crossfader is too loose for me.
the 2002 3 channel blue mixer is a cheap durable mixer the 2002 fader
may go if you scratch alot but they only cost $20 to replace. the 2
channel version is okay but the set up is bad, in my opinion.
stay away from the one w/ the kaos pad. it sounds dirty and the EQ is
fot the main not the inividual channels.
-pioneer: the 600, ro 500, is a clean mixer. lots of beeps and
whistles if you want them, sold interface. not overly fond of the
headphone set up, i like to adjust the headphone mix manually and it
only lets you have 1 channel or 2, no fading.
the 300 is solid but for the price there are other mixers i would get.
-rane: of all the rane mixer i only use the mojo's-52 & 54. they make
    a wannabe euri(sp?), too. the mojo's are hot. only has a hi/lo EQ i
guess cause it was designed for hip hop. the EQ's work great, the 54
goes to -40 db, and the crossfades are perfect...PERFECT.
-vestex: alot of great mixers. i liked the 05, 06, 07, 27, the really
big one, too. thought the 17a was a piece of crap(others have liked
it, i didn't meld well with it).06 is great for a battle. 05 is
standard hip hop. 07 is great...for me that is. 05, 06 ,07 only have
2 channels which my limit "expirementation", or your ability to use cd
    players.
-gemini: c'mon now...don't waste yer money.

these are my opinions. i probably messed up some schematics along the
way, too. i have used these mixers and developed these opinions for
myself, these arn't recycled thoughts. if your broke get what you can
afford, obviously. when i used to sell these i'd say "if you plan on
djing for a while, why buy 2 or 3 mixers? buy a worth while mixer
    now."
was i a salesman or was i right???
my first set up was a gemini scratch master and a pair of linear
tech's-USED. i have no regrets, it made me work harder.

    as for amps and such.
i don't like eon's. the get burnt after a while.
i like DAS by sennheiser. dope!!!
sennheiser head phones are my favorite, too. the HD-25'S rock!!!
