Keyser & Shuriken - newsletter #59: Shotgun dilemma

    Newsflash 18.06.2001

    Dear friends,

It seems two days for us often takes a week, but the slo mo nature of our written
world is strictly contradictory to that of our real lives. We've been working heavily
on a remix for Easy Life Natural (a fresh production team from Veszprem, hosts of the
Syrup club-nights) after Shuriken got back from a Cinetrip (www.cinetrip.net) gig in
Bordeaux. He played at Zoo Bizarre with Palotai, Cadik & Mango a so-called before
party the day before the Cinetrip ray-painters, VJ Laki, the Budapest Filmharmonics
(Palotai, Mango & Nan-D on the 1 and 2s, Albert Markos on the Cello) have taken over
the massive submarine base built during WWII.

Imagine 2 meter thick concrete walls, Nan-D's deep techno set, and Cinetrip lights on
all surfaces. Really good looking on water and the white ships resting in the docks!
Ashamed not to remember the name of the sculptor who have designed the DJ, VJ and
musician booths out of heavily rusting giant industrial barrels especially for this
night. They looked like spaceships (straight outta Alien) fuelled with mellting iron.
Haven't mentioned the similarly amazing chill out furniture and bar-desk! We couldn't
think of playing at any place that can match up to the top of Gellert hill a week
before, but this party was beyond all imagination.

Laki, the mastermind (& the big heart) behind Cinetrip has just married this weekend!
Congratulations, we wish all the love & luck in your new life with Eva and Laki Jr.!

This weeks reading is about solving tough cases in real Gorilla-style. Some things
(not of such challenging nature as Jimmy Smith, rather internal affairs and politics
in dj/promoter circles) happening to us in the last weeks in Budapest sometimes makes
us think, maybe we should finally shoot the fucking turntables:

"Taken from the liner notes of the reissue of Got My Mojo Workin' and Hoochie Coochie
    Man:
"James Brown don't play organ. He used to play at it, until he heard Jimmy Smith.
Then he got a shotgun and shot the fuckin' organ!"

Spotted at the Hammond forum (you ever thought this weird community is active on the
    web?)

Well, keep on trying to be calm till next week!
